Artist Residency and Fellowship Programs in Santa Fe, NM

The Four Seasons Resort Encantado Santa Fe will host a series of artist-in-residence programs featuring live demonstrations, presented in collaboration with Tourism Santa Fe.

Opening the series is contemporary American narrative artist Cheri O’Brien, in residence from Nov. 16–18. O’Brien is known for whimsical compositions that repeat motifs such as dogs, flowers and religious iconography.

Next, Janet O’Neal will be in residence Dec. 14–16. Her diverse practice includes painting, mixed-media assemblage, photography and sculpture. Much of the photographic material she incorporates into her mixed-media work comes from travels to Israel, India and Jamaica.

Painter Roberta Parry will follow, in residence Jan. 4–6, 2019. Parry’s work emphasizes color and light, often expressed through transparent watercolors. The program continues with artist, writer and photographer Sean Mary Helen Johnson, in residence Jan. 11–13, 2019, whose work addresses themes of social justice, peace, ritual and reverence.

Closing the residency series is Irene Owsley, in residence Feb. 8–10. Renowned for her panoramic photography, Owsley has worked in extreme environments such as Greenland, Iceland, Alaska and Arctic Canada. Her powerful images of wilderness, geography and adventure have appeared in publications including Nikon World, Canoe & Kayak, Sierra and National Parks, and in materials for The Wilderness Society and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
