The Inn at English Harbour, on the island of Antigua in the Lesser Antilles’ Leeward Islands, is widely regarded as one of the most picturesque resorts in the Caribbean. Antigua is the larger island of the nation of Antigua and Barbuda, an independent member of the Commonwealth.

Originally opened in the 1960s, The Inn at English Harbour changed hands in the 1990s when the Addari family purchased the property. Under Enzo and Susanna Addari, the resort underwent thoughtful renovations and expansions that introduced subtle Asian and African design elements while preserving its charming colonial architecture. Nestled between the cliffs of Shirley Heights and the sheltered bay of Nelson’s Dockyard, the inn offers dramatic vistas and easy access to the historic marina. The family has focused on maintaining the estate’s natural beauty and delivering a genuine, personal guest experience.
On a tranquil 19-acre site, the intimate resort features 31 rooms and suites in a prime beachfront location adjacent to English Harbour and the scenic Nelson’s Dockyard National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Accommodations range from beach cabanas and junior suites to deluxe and hillside pool suites, all positioned within pavilions across the grounds. Each room is designed for comfort and style, featuring chic furnishings, mahogany floors and large bathrooms. Many rooms are only steps from the palm-lined sandy beach and the resort’s freshwater pool. In recent years, three additional hillside suites were added to increase the selection of elevated guestrooms.
Dining at the inn emphasizes relaxed, seaside living. The Reef Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon high tea on the beachfront. For cocktails and evening meals, the Terrace Restaurant and Stone Bar offer alfresco dining with international cuisine infused with Caribbean flavors, all set against hilltop views.

A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection, The Inn at English Harbour is about 20 minutes from St. John’s, the island’s capital, and roughly 30 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU). Many visitors rent Jeeps to explore Antigua’s beaches and coastline, while others prefer to remain on the secluded grounds and enjoy the privacy the property provides. On-site amenities include two tennis courts, a range of watersports, yachting access, a fitness center and a spa offering massage and wellness treatments.
The inn also offers a selection of guest packages tailored to different stays, from honeymoon arrangements to expedited airport customs clearance services. The resort typically closes for an annual brief refurbishment period in August and September and reopens in mid-October.
