The Lake is a large, naturalistic body of water that covers about 20 acres. What began as a swamp was shaped and stabilized during landscaping efforts to become the serene lake visitors enjoy now. The shoreline and waters teem with wildlife, and in summer the lake is dotted with rowboats—creating one of Central Park’s most picturesque scenes, whether you’re drifting on the water or strolling along the edge.
