Wow Air Adds Business Class Seats: New Premium Cabin Details Revealed

Wow Air is introducing a new tiered seating and fare structure that adds a business-class-like option, larger seats, higher baggage allowances and priority boarding across its fleet. The changes are aimed at long-haul travellers and those who prefer extra space and convenience without upgrading to a full traditional premium cabin.

The carrier’s new “Big Seats” will be offered on Airbus A330 aircraft that serve long-haul routes between Iceland and the U.S. West Coast. These Big Seats provide a 37-inch pitch compared with the airline’s standard economy pitch of 30 inches, delivering noticeably more legroom and comfort on longer flights. In addition to the A330, larger seat options will be available on the airline’s A320 and A321 narrow-body aircraft, allowing passengers on shorter routes to choose more spacious seating.

On A320 and A321 aircraft, the larger seating choices are split into XL and XXL categories. XL seats range from 32 to 34 inches of pitch, while XXL seats offer 35 to 37 inches. This gives travellers flexibility to select the amount of space they need based on their route and budget, and makes the enhanced seating option accessible across the carrier’s network rather than limited to long-haul aircraft only.

Wow Air will bundle these new seating options into three distinct fare packages that combine seat selection, baggage and other ancillary services to suit different traveller priorities:

  • Wow Biz: This premium bundle mirrors many of the benefits associated with business-class travel. It includes a Big Seat, allowance for a handbag or laptop bag, one carry-on bag, one checked bag, seat reservation and cancellation protection. Wow Biz also adds priority boarding and, starting from March 1, a complimentary hot meal and a drink on board. The package is designed for customers who want extra comfort and a smoother airport and onboard experience without purchasing a full traditional business-class ticket.
  • Wow Plus: Targeted at travellers who want more than the most basic fare but do not need full premium amenities. Wow Plus includes an economy seat plus a handbag or laptop bag, a carry-on whose size is subject to specified maximum dimensions, one checked bag and cancellation protection. This middle-tier bundle is aimed at leisure and business travellers who want a predictable set of inclusions for a moderate additional fee.
  • Wow Basic: The entry-level option, covering a standard economy seat and a single personal item that must fit under the seat in front of the passenger. Acceptable personal items include a small backpack, purse or laptop bag, with maximum exterior dimensions of 42 by 32 by 25 centimeters (17 by 13 by 10 inches). Wow Basic is designed for price-sensitive travellers who travel light and do not require checked luggage or priority services.

Beyond the packaged bundles, travellers who prefer a la carte options will be able to purchase larger seats and fast-track services independently of the Wow Biz package. That means passengers can opt for individual upgrades—such as moving to an XL or XXL seat or adding priority boarding—without committing to a higher-tier bundle.

The revamped fare structure simplifies choices for customers by grouping commonly purchased services while still allowing flexibility through add-ons. For passengers on long-haul services between Iceland and the U.S. West Coast, the introduction of Big Seats on the A330 is a significant upgrade in onboard comfort. On short- and medium-haul European routes operated by the A320 and A321, the XL and XXL seats provide travelers with more comfortable options without a steep premium.

Overall, the new offerings reflect Wow Air’s effort to appeal to a wider range of travellers—from those seeking the lowest fares with minimal inclusions to those who want enhanced comfort and convenience. The tiered approach clarifies what is included at each price point and makes it easier for passengers to select the combination of seat, baggage and services that best matches their needs and travel style.
