Business travel demands both efficiency and comfort so professionals can complete tasks, attend meetings, and return from trips feeling productive and satisfied. Modern hotels that cater to business travelers generally offer services such as business centers, private transfers, and convenient airport shuttles. But recent research highlights that the single most important amenity for many business travelers is a reliable, high-speed WiFi connection.
A survey by the Global Business Travel Association asked business travelers which hotel feature would most motivate them to book directly on a hotel’s website instead of through a third party. Nearly 70 percent of respondents said free high-speed internet was their top requirement. The survey also revealed other in-room essentials for business guests, including USB and power outlets, spare chargers, and keyless or mobile room keys.
Additionally, the study found that roughly 55 percent of respondents use hotel internet for work at least an hour each day. In response, hotels are upgrading their offerings to better serve business needs. Improvements being adopted include enhanced WiFi infrastructure and digital services such as mobile check-in, in-app room service requests, and on-demand car reservations. These changes aim to streamline the guest experience, reduce friction during stays, and help business travelers stay connected and productive.
By prioritizing dependable connectivity and thoughtfully designed in-room amenities, hotels can attract more direct bookings from business guests. Delivering a consistent digital experience—alongside reliable physical comforts—helps ensure travelers can focus on their work while enjoying the convenience expected from a business-focused property.
