United Airlines is expanding and upgrading its services between the United States, Europe and the Middle East with new routes, aircraft and increased frequencies.
Starting May 24, the carrier will operate a seasonal San Francisco (SFO)–Munich (MUC) route using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The westbound flight departs San Francisco at 2:50 p.m. and arrives in Munich at 10:25 a.m. The eastbound service departs Munich at 12:10 p.m., arriving in San Francisco at 2:55 p.m.
“Starting this summer we’re offering more flights, to more destinations at more convenient times than in recent memory,” said Scott Kirby, president of United Airlines. “And with bigger and more modern aircraft for many of our flights, we’ll be getting you to the moments that matter most — relaxed and ready to go.”
On May 5, United will upgrade its daily Newark (EWR)–Tel Aviv (TLV) service to a Boeing 777-300ER equipped with the airline’s new Polaris business-class seats. This is the second route to feature the 777-300ER alongside the San Francisco–Hong Kong (SFO–HKG) service. The Newark departure is scheduled for 11:35 p.m., with arrival in Tel Aviv at 4:20 p.m. The return departs Tel Aviv at 11:10 p.m. and arrives in Newark at 4:34 a.m.
Domestically, United plans a notable expansion that adds service to 13 cities, including four new destinations: Champaign/Urbana, Illinois (CMI); Columbia, Missouri (COU); Rochester, Minnesota (RST); and Santa Rosa, California (STS).
The airline is introducing daily summer service in six markets and is converting several seasonal routes to year-round service. Routes to Salt Lake City (SLC), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Tucson (TUS) and New Orleans (MSY), which previously operated only seasonally, will now operate year-round. United is also increasing frequencies across 15 existing domestic markets, adding a total of 47 daily round-trips to its U.S. schedule this summer.
These changes reflect United’s strategy to offer more destinations, improved schedules and modernized cabins to better serve both international and domestic travelers during the peak summer travel period.
