United Airlines is expanding its presence in the Israeli market with new non-stop service between Tel Aviv and San Francisco. Beginning March 30, 2016, the carrier will operate the route three times weekly using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
“Providing corporate customers from throughout the Bay Area and Silicon Valley non-stop service to the high-tech market in Israel has been high on our priority list at United,” said Dave Hilfman, senior vice president of worldwide sales at United. “Now with the 787-9 Dreamliner, we’re delighted to make it a reality.”
From San Francisco (SFO), flights will depart at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Tel Aviv (TLV) at 8:10 p.m. the following day. Return service from Tel Aviv will leave at 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, touching down in San Francisco at 6:00 a.m. local time the same day.
United has served Israel since 1999. This new San Francisco–Tel Aviv route complements the airline’s existing twice-daily nonstop Boeing 777 service between Tel Aviv and Newark (EWR), strengthening United’s transatlantic and transcontinental network to Israel.
The launch comes shortly after American Airlines discontinued its nonstop service between Tel Aviv and Philadelphia (PHL) in January 2016, leaving room for United to increase capacity on routes connecting Israel with the U.S. West Coast and Northeast.
