Ride-hailing company Uber expanded its business-travel offering, Uber for Business, which began as a service focused on monthly billing and reporting. The updated platform now includes a user-friendly interface and enhanced controls that help organizations manage employee transportation more effectively.
In a recent announcement, Uber outlined several enhancements to Uber for Business:
- Travel managers can create automated programs tailored to specific transportation needs, such as daily commuting plans and policies for late-night rides.
- Administrators can define precise usage rules for employees, clients, and customers, including per-trip spending limits, permitted vehicle types, allowable travel windows, and approved pickup or drop-off locations.
- If a ride exceeds company-set limits, the platform allows the excess charge to be billed to an employee’s personal credit card.
- Access can be customized on a per-person basis or by team, seniority level, or office location, enabling finer-grained control over who can request and charge rides.
“With the new Uber for Business, every member of the organization — travel managers, finance, HR, and executive leadership — can deliver solutions that improve the business, whether it’s through cost savings, employee productivity or scaling the business,” the company said.
Uber for Business enables companies to schedule and manage rides for employees, clients, and visitors via the Uber Central interface. The service also provides detailed activity and billing reports and supports direct charges to corporate accounts through the Uber app, simplifying expense tracking and compliance for organizations.
