Wilderness Safaris, a recognised leader in conservation and hospitality, has strengthened its presence in Rwanda by welcoming Thousands Hills Africa and Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge into its family of brands. This development follows the appointment of Manzi Kayihura as executive chairman of the Wilderness Rwanda Board seven months earlier. While global growth remains part of Wilderness’s long‑term strategy, the company continues to prioritise the protection of Rwanda’s natural heritage and the well‑being of its people.

Since the opening of the award‑winning Bisate Lodge five years ago, Wilderness Rwanda and Thousands Hills Africa have collaborated closely to advance conservation and sustainable hospitality across the region. Their partnership has helped highlight Rwanda’s biodiversity and strengthen the visitor experience through thoughtfully designed tourism offerings.
Rob Baas, Managing Director of Wilderness Safaris Rwanda, explained the brand integration: “We are pleased to officially welcome Thousands Hills Africa and Sabyinyo into the Wilderness family. Thousands Hills Africa will continue as our Wilderness Rwanda travel and touring business, while Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge will operate as Wilderness Sabyinyo. We believe this next step will allow us to deliver exceptional guest experiences in Rwanda while increasing our positive impact through conservation, reforestation and community development.”
Both Thousands Hills Africa and Sabyinyo share Wilderness’s commitment to safeguarding some of the world’s most important remaining wilderness areas. Under the Wilderness banner, these properties will continue to support conservation initiatives, local communities and sustainable tourism practices that benefit Rwanda’s environment and people.
