Evoking the playful design and refined elegance typical of Amsterdam’s finest addresses, the newly refreshed The Dylan, Amsterdam welcomes urban travelers to an intimate, five-star experience. This boutique hotel offers 41 thoughtfully appointed rooms, a prime canal-side location on Keizersgracht, and a two Michelin-starred restaurant—making it an appealing choice for visitors seeking both style and substance. The Green Globe–certified property is housed in a historic stone theater, the city’s first of its kind, originally designed in 1638 by Jacob van Campen. Amsterdam-based Studio Linse and Format Furniture collaborated to preserve this heritage while updating the spaces with a contemporary, luxurious sensibility.

“We wanted the rooms to feel quietly confident,” said Paul Linse, founder and design director of Studio Linse. “No marble or gold—just materials that speak for themselves.” That restraint informs every choice, resulting in interiors that balance historic character with contemporary comfort.
The hotel includes an annex, known as the Serendipity building, originally designed by Dutch interior architect Remy Meijers and added in 2014. The annex underwent a full renovation in 2024, during which ornamental moldings were reinstated, sumptuous carpets were introduced, and Studio Linse applied a warm, soothing color palette. In the suites, guests will find custom oak cabinetry topped with quartzite, freestanding Vallone bathtubs, and a carefully curated mix of vintage-inspired and bespoke furnishings chosen to complement each room’s proportions and personality.

“Every piece was made to measure,” explained Jikke Snelleman, co-founder of Format Furniture. “We worked closely with Studio Linse to ensure the materials and finishes reflected The Dylan’s quiet sophistication. It’s not about opulence—it’s about timelessness.” The collaboration focused on bespoke craftsmanship and durable, high-quality materials that age gracefully and honor the building’s history.

Beyond design, The Dylan offers memorable dining experiences. Restaurant Vinkeles serves refined modern French cuisine in an 18th-century bakery setting, combining historic atmosphere with contemporary technique. For a more intimate experience, até presents a six-seat chef’s table where dishes draw inspiration from Mexican, French and Japanese culinary traditions—each tasting reflecting precision, creativity and seasonality.
Positioned on one of Amsterdam’s most picturesque canals and rooted in a rich architectural legacy, The Dylan, Amsterdam presents a quietly luxurious stay that prioritizes craftsmanship, comfort and respect for history. Whether you’re drawn by the bespoke interiors, the acclaimed dining or the canal-side location, the hotel offers a carefully considered base for exploring the city’s cultural highlights and hidden corners.
