Tap Into Success: Mastering Sales & Growth Strategies for Small Businesses

TAP Portugal is making waves in 2011 with new routes, record-breaking passenger numbers and multiple industry accolades.

Welcome to Miami

In summer 2011, Miami becomes TAP Portugal’s second North American gateway. The airline will operate four weekly flights (increasing to five during peak summer) between Lisbon and Miami, providing convenient connections for travelers between Central America, the Caribbean and Europe.

Miami is also growing in popularity with Portuguese travelers: visits from Portugal to Miami rose by 35 percent in 2010, and that figure is expected to climb further once TAP launches direct service from Lisbon.

TAP already serves Newark International Airport with flights to Lisbon and Porto. Codeshare agreements with Continental, United, US Airways and Air Canada make it simple to connect across North America.

Lisbon — Gateway to Europe

Lisbon, TAP’s hub, is emerging as one of Europe’s most important and welcoming gateways. TAP is expanding its European network with six new destinations in 2011. Service to Athens will begin with three weekly flights and Vienna with four weekly flights, both increasing to five weekly flights during peak season. A weekly summer flight to Dubrovnik will bring TAP’s European network to 49 destinations.

Additional additions include Düsseldorf, Bordeaux and Manchester. Düsseldorf marks TAP’s fourth destination in Germany after Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg; the five weekly flights to Düsseldorf raise TAP’s total weekly connections to Germany to 54.

With six weekly flights to Bordeaux (daily during peak season), TAP boosts its presence in France to 154 weekly flights, joining Paris, Nice, Toulouse, Marseille and Lyon on the route map.

Adding five weekly flights from Manchester (six in summer) to its existing London service increases TAP’s weekly flights to the U.K. to 75.

Nine Million and Counting

As 2010 concluded, TAP carried its nine millionth passenger, setting a new annual record for the airline. The milestone journey was on a domestic flight from Lisbon to Funchal.

December 29 brought more records: a TAP customer bound for Brazil was Lisbon Airport’s 14 millionth passenger for 2010. TAP handles more than half of Lisbon Airport’s traffic, a testament to its central role at the hub.

These figures reflect TAP’s steady growth, high standards and reputation for reliable service.

Awards Season

TAP’s reputation continues to be recognized across the industry. For the second consecutive year, the airline won “World’s Leading Airline to South America” at the World Travel Awards.

Having earned Condé Nast Traveller recognition in 2010, TAP seeks to retain its place among the magazine’s top-ranked carriers. TAP was again named to the publication’s Gold List in 2011, a step toward broader “Best Airline” recognition based on criteria such as punctuality, comfort, flight frequency, route network, cabin service and safety — areas where TAP performs strongly.
