Star Alliance Debuts Exclusive Lounge at Rome Fiumicino Airport

The first dedicated Star Alliance lounge at Rome Fiumicino Airport opened on June 29. The premium facility welcomes first- and business-class passengers as well as Star Alliance Gold cardholders and is located on the upper level of Boarding Zone D in Terminal 3.

The new lounge reflects the local character with Italian furnishings and regional culinary offerings. Amenities include a staffed bar, a barista coffee station and a variety of seating areas designed for comfort and relaxation.

Business travelers will find functional workspaces with complimentary Wi‑Fi, standard and USB power outlets, and private areas for phone calls. The layout balances open communal zones and quieter corners to suit different travel needs.

“Improving the quality of the services we offer is our primary commitment,” said Ivan Bassato, director of airport management at Aeroporti di Roma. He noted the collaborative effort with Aviapartner and Star Alliance to create an innovative, functional space that reflects the high standards achieved at Fiumicino. The airport recently received the Best Airport Award 2018 from Airports Council International, an honor Bassato attributed to sustained commitment and the contribution of key partners operating at the airport. The new lounge expands and enhances premium options for passengers departing from Boarding Area D on short- and medium-haul flights within Europe.

The lounge can accommodate up to 130 guests and is open daily from 5:15 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.

Star Alliance is also planning additional lounge projects. A new lounge is scheduled to open in Amsterdam (AMS) in early 2019, and refurbishments are planned for lounges in Nagoya (NGO) and Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG).
