St. Regis Hotels & Resorts Reveals Signature Bespoke Scent

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has introduced its first bespoke scent, “Caroline’s Four Hundred,” now rolling out across the brand’s global portfolio. The fragrance will be available at each of the brand’s 35 hotels and resorts. Initially offered as a candle, the scent will be released as a room spray in early next year to extend the guest experience beyond the properties.

Developed by scent designer Carlos Huber of ARQUISTE, “Caroline’s Four Hundred” draws inspiration from Caroline Astor, the matriarch of the family connected to the hotel’s origins, and from the grand society gatherings she hosted in New York at the turn of the 20th century. The $80 candle is crafted to evoke the layered atmosphere of those events: exotic woods, potted palms, and apple blossoms that decorated the hotel, alongside Champagne and American Beauty roses, the matriarch’s favored bloom.

Daphne Sipos, global brand director of St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, described the fragrance as an olfactory representation of the brand’s history and glamour. “Rooted in New York society with the legendary ‘400’ and entertaining every generation of society since, St. Regis endures as the epitome of glamour. We are thrilled that ARQUISTE could capture the spirit of the brand for our discerning guests to enjoy, whether they are staying with us and when they are at home,” she said.

The scent is positioned to do more than scent a room: it aims to reinforce the brand’s narrative and hospitality ethos by offering guests a tangible memory of their stay. By translating the distinctive ambiance of St. Regis properties into a home fragrance, the brand offers loyal guests and new customers alike a way to recall the hotel’s refined setting long after departure.

At launch, the candle is the primary product. The forthcoming room spray will provide an alternative format for those who prefer lighter, more immediate fragrance application in guestrooms and residences. St. Regis and ARQUISTE collaborated on the composition and presentation to ensure the scent reflects both historical references and contemporary luxury standards.

Carolina’s Four Hundred also highlights a broader trend within luxury hospitality: creating signature scents that serve as extensions of a property’s identity. Signature fragrances can enhance guest recognition, support branding initiatives, and offer an additional revenue stream through retail sales. For St. Regis, the new scent acts as a sensory bridge between the hotel’s storied past and its present-day service and style.

The candle is available through the brand’s online boutique and directly from ARQUISTE. Items sold at hotels, in boutiques, and online allow guests to bring a piece of the St. Regis experience home, whether as a memento or a deliberate choice to recreate the hotel’s atmosphere in private residences.

With its blend of historical inspiration and contemporary craftsmanship, “Caroline’s Four Hundred” represents St. Regis’s continued focus on curated luxury touches that deepen guest engagement. The introduction of a room spray next year will make the scent more accessible to a wider audience and reinforce its role as part of the brand’s sensory identity.
