South African Airways and JetBlue have expanded their partnership with a new codeshare on SAA’s nonstop route between Washington, D.C. and Dakar, Senegal. Under this agreement, JetBlue will place its B6 code on SAA-operated flights linking Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport (DSS) in Dakar.
The codeshare lets customers book a single ticket that combines JetBlue and SAA-operated segments, with through check-in and baggage transfer on connected itineraries. This simplifies travel planning and ground handling for passengers traveling between the United States and Dakar. SAA currently operates the only nonstop service between the U.S. and Dakar using Airbus A340 aircraft.
This new codeshare extends the cooperation SAA and JetBlue began in 2013, which already covers SAA services to Johannesburg (JNB), Cape Town (CPT), Durban (DUR), Port Elizabeth (PLZ) and East London (ELS) in South Africa. By adding Dakar, the carriers increase route connectivity across West and Southern Africa while offering smoother connections and a unified booking experience for customers.
Travelers booking the codeshare can expect coordinated schedules, a single point of sale for fares and customer service, and streamlined baggage handling on qualifying itineraries. The arrangement is intended to improve convenience for leisure and business travelers between North America and key African destinations served by SAA.
