Eco-friendly tour operator Up Norway now offers a new journey into the dramatic Sunnmøre Alps. The Ski and Sail tour combines mountain skiing with a private boat cruise on the Hjørundfjord, allowing guests to ski from high alpine ridges all the way down to the fjord’s edge.
The four-day itinerary begins in Ålesund, where visitors explore the town’s iconic colorful architecture and enjoy a five-course dinner paired with Champagne and curated beverages. Accommodation for the first night is at Hotel Brosundet. From Ålesund the trip moves into the surrounding wilderness, where guests meet a private, professional ski instructor. A private boat then navigates the Hjørundfjord and continues on to Storfjord, providing spectacular views and easy access to remote slopes.

Each day on the tour offers the chance to ski varied terrain, descending from high points to the fjord shore. Evenings provide time to relax, with an outdoor sauna available to warm up after a day on the slopes. The experience is designed to accommodate skiers of all abilities; routes and instruction are adapted to match skill level. Lodging includes a two-night stay at the boutique Storfjord Hotel, where travelers receive two multi-course dinners and two packed lunches for outings.
Guests can extend the itinerary with an optional visit to Svalbard. This northern extension offers unique Arctic activities such as Northern Lights viewing, dog sledding, and a private multi-course dinner held in one of Longyearbyen’s historic closed mines, providing an immersive and memorable complement to the main tour.
The Ski and Sail tour runs from January through April. Pricing starts at $1,946 per person based on a group of six and includes all transportation, with private airport transfers arranged. For full details, availability, and booking information, see the tour page on the operator’s website.
