Singapore Airlines Launches New Home Away From Home Airport Lounges

Singapore Airlines has unveiled a new SilverKris Lounge concept in Sydney as part of a major, multi-million dollar program to upgrade its airport lounges worldwide.

Created by the architectural and interior design firm ONG&ONG, the redesigned SilverKris Lounge draws inspiration from the comfort and familiarity of home. The design process was informed by extensive research, including customer focus groups, to ensure the environment meets passenger needs and expectations.

The new concept will be introduced progressively across SilverKris Lounges over the next five years, with the overall investment estimated at around $100 million. Renovation work is scheduled to begin in 2014 at lounges in London, Hong Kong and Singapore (Terminal 3), followed by further rollouts to other locations.

“Our customers frequently tell us that they have a feeling of ‘home’ as soon as they board our aircraft,” said Tan Pee Teck, senior vice president products and services at Singapore Airlines. “Our aim is to extend this experience to the ground. With our new ‘home-away-from-home’ concept, we want customers to feel cared for at every step of their journey.”

The Sydney lounge introduces features that prioritize relaxation and convenience while reflecting Singapore Airlines’ well-known service standards. The layout emphasizes comfortable seating areas, warm materials, and thoughtfully arranged amenities to create a tranquil atmosphere for leisure and work.

As the concept is rolled out to additional cities, travellers can expect a consistent design language tailored to local needs, merging functionality with a residential feel. The program aims to balance spacious communal areas with private zones, offering a variety of seating options, quiet corners, and improved dining and service experiences.

The phased investment in lounge upgrades underscores Singapore Airlines’ focus on enhancing the end-to-end travel experience. By aligning the ground experience with the cabin environment, the airline seeks to strengthen customer comfort, convenience, and satisfaction across its global network.

Passengers familiar with SilverKris Lounges will notice the new emphasis on natural materials, softer lighting and flexible spaces that accommodate different travel styles—whether resting before a long-haul flight, preparing for a meeting, or enjoying a quiet meal. These elements are intended to make time at the lounge both restorative and productive.

Singapore Airlines’ rollout plan allows the airline to refine design and service offerings based on passenger feedback as the concept is introduced to each location, ensuring the lounges evolve to meet changing expectations and travel patterns.

Overall, the new SilverKris Lounge concept represents a strategic investment in premium ground services, aiming to provide a cohesive and comfortable “home-away-from-home” experience for travellers worldwide.
