Seabourn Cruises Back to Alaska After 15-Year Hiatus

Seabourn returns to Alaska after a 15-year hiatus with the intimate Seabourn Sojourn leading an Ultimate Alaska season. The ship will operate 11-, 12- and 14-day voyages that depart from either Anchorage, Alaska, or Vancouver, British Columbia, providing luxury travelers an opportunity to explore the region in comfort and style.

Seabourn’s Alaska program blends upscale hospitality with adventurous, off-ship experiences. According to Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn, the line aims to present Alaska’s most memorable sights—from towering glaciers and postcard-perfect mountain scenery to quaint frontier towns—while delivering the service and amenities expected on an ultra-luxury cruise.

The itineraries visit classic ports of call and scenic highlights of the Inside Passage, and feature Ventures by Seabourn, the line’s signature expedition-style program. Travelers can expect stops in Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka, plus options for more active shore excursions led by the expedition team, such as guided kayak outings and zodiac tours that bring guests closer to wildlife and coastal landscapes.

With a capacity of 458 guests, the Seabourn Sojourn can access narrower waterways and smaller ports that larger vessels cannot, opening the door to lesser-known destinations. The ship’s route includes secluded communities like Alert Bay and Klemtu—the latter a small Kitasoo community of fewer than 500 residents that Seabourn visits exclusively—along with the temperate rainforests of the Inside Passage, the glacier-carved fjords and humpback whale habitats of the Kenai Fjords, and the dramatic ice fields of Glacier Bay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Onboard, guests enjoy a range of included amenities and curated experiences designed to enhance the voyage. Complimentary items such as cruise-branded all-weather jackets come alongside signature events, including Seabourn Conversations with expert guest speakers and the festive Caviar on the Ice deck party, which highlights the destination and the line’s culinary offerings.

These sailings aim to balance discovery and relaxation: days spent exploring rugged coastlines, spotting wildlife and visiting remote communities are complemented by evenings of fine dining, enriching lectures and attentive service. The combination of small-ship access, expedition-minded programming and Seabourn’s luxury standards positions the season as a compelling option for travelers seeking an immersive Alaska experience without sacrificing comfort or style.
