SAS has introduced high-speed in-flight WiFi across its short- and medium-haul fleet. The airline says the new system offers a more stable, stronger and faster connection than many other solutions currently available in the industry.
The service is already active on 28 short- and medium-haul aircraft, and roughly 40 more planes are scheduled to be equipped by September. SAS expects the vast majority of its short- and medium-haul fleet to have the technology installed by the first quarter of 2020.
Passengers traveling on SAS Plus fares, as well as EuroBonus Diamond and Gold members, receive complimentary access to the WiFi. EuroBonus Silver members are granted free access until August 19.
Travelers holding Go fares can purchase access for €4.90 per flight. All passengers connect to the SAS portal through the airline’s app, with free access to the carrier’s website and its online magazine available to all users.
According to SAS, the connection is capable of supporting movie streaming, social media, image uploads and email—covering the typical needs of leisure and business travelers alike.
“We have made a big investment that will ensure that our customers enjoy the best inflight experience. Together with our recent fleet order, this will strengthen SAS’ competitiveness even further and maintain our strong position in the Scandinavian market,” said Rickard Gustafson, president and CEO of SAS. “Fast and stable WiFi connection is a service passengers ask for today. Whether you want to watch a movie, stay connected with friends and family or work onboard, you require a reliable high-speed connection. With this investment we continue to deliver on our promise to make life easier for our customers.”
