Royal Air Maroc Restarts Casablanca–Beijing Route and Launches Toronto Service

As part of its international network expansion, Royal Air Maroc will relaunch the direct Casablanca–Beijing route that was first introduced in January 2020 and suspended weeks later because of the global health crisis.

Beginning January 20, 2025, Royal Air Maroc will operate the Casablanca–Beijing service with three weekly frequencies. Departures from Casablanca (CMN) are scheduled for Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 15:15 local time, arriving the following day at Beijing International Airport at 10:50 local time. Flights from Beijing will operate Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 12:50 local time, arriving in Casablanca at 20:15 local time. These services will be flown with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, each offering 302 seats, including 26 business class seats.

“We are delighted to resume the first direct link between Morocco and China,” said Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc. “The Casablanca–Beijing route is geared primarily toward developing Moroccan tourism, as roughly 80 percent of passengers on this route are expected to be international tourists. This long-awaited connection will also strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries.”

In addition, Royal Air Maroc is inaugurating a new direct route between Casablanca and Toronto, further extending the airline’s presence across the Americas.

The Casablanca–Toronto (YYZ) route begins December 8, 2024, and will operate three times weekly on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Departures from Casablanca are set for 16:45 local time, with arrivals in Toronto at 19:25 local time. Return flights will depart Toronto at 21:30 local time and arrive in Casablanca at 10:50 local time the next day. These services will be operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

This new Toronto link is Royal Air Maroc’s second direct service to Canada and strengthens the airline’s Americas network, which already includes direct flights between Casablanca and Montréal (YUL), New York (JFK), Washington, D.C. (IAD), Miami (MIA), and São Paulo (GRU). The São Paulo service will be reinstated beginning December 7.

“The launch of the Casablanca–Toronto route responds to strong demand from the Moroccan community in Canada, particularly in Ontario,” Addou noted. “It builds on the airline’s long-standing service to Canada—Royal Air Maroc has flown the Casablanca–Montréal route since 1975, currently operating two flights per day. Adding Toronto will increase convenience and choice for Moroccan citizens and travelers in Canada.” He added that the new route aligns with the carrier’s Development Plan agreed with the government in July 2023 and will support economic ties and Morocco’s tourism appeal.

Tickets for both routes are available for purchase on the airline’s official website.
