Looking for an inspiring place to spark your creativity? Free Spirit Spheres offers a truly unforgettable lodging experience. Nestled on Vancouver Island’s forested west coast, these suspended spherical accommodations hang among tall trees, appearing like windowed moons set beneath a leafy canopy. Each of the three handcrafted spheres varies in size, materials and amenities, and each is named after a woman.
The smallest sphere, Eve, measures about nine feet in diameter and is crafted from cedar; it contains a single bed and offers a cozy, intimate retreat. Eryn, built from Sitka spruce, comfortably accommodates two guests and includes a tiny kitchen and a settee for relaxing. Melody features a bright yellow fiberglass exterior with a black walnut interior, sleeps two, and provides a small sink and cupboard stocked with dishes for light snacks and beverages.
Full bathroom, sauna and shower facilities are available on the property near a small pond at the base of the trees. While there are no on-site restaurants, guests receive a welcome snack on arrival and can choose from several nearby pubs and dining options. Towels and bedding are provided. Each sphere has a standard power connection, a heater and limited flat floor space suitable for relaxing and sleeping. Guests must be at least 16 years old, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own music to play through the sphere’s private sound system. Rates vary by sphere and number of occupants.
Located across five wooded acres, the site blends rustic charm with thoughtful amenities, creating a peaceful escape ideal for writers, artists and anyone seeking to reconnect with nature. The suspended design offers a unique perspective on the forest, providing privacy and an immersive outdoor experience without sacrificing comfort.
For travelers prioritizing quiet, natural surroundings and creative inspiration, these spheres provide a distinctive alternative to conventional lodging. With simple comforts, private facilities nearby and the novelty of sleeping suspended in the trees, the property appeals to couples and solo travelers looking for something memorable and serene.
