Arrival/Check-In: The Regal Airport Hotel is ideally located for travelers needing a convenient stopover before connecting to other airports in Asia or visiting Hong Kong. I stayed two nights, one on arrival and one before an early morning departure nearly a week later. The hotel sits just outside the main passenger terminal, a five-minute walk through an enclosed breezeway. The spacious main lobby contains restaurants, shops and entertainment options. Although the front desk was busy, I completed check-in in under ten minutes and was directed to the executive club floor, where club-access guests can also handle check-in.
Guest Quarters: My Executive Club room, close to the club lounge, was very convenient. While unpacking I noticed a few small insects and informed staff. They immediately escorted me to the lounge, offered Champagne, and the general manager and club team moved my luggage and changed my room. Their response was gracious, apologetic and helpful.
The new room was spacious with cream carpeting, patterned walls and dark wood accents. A hallway closet had floor-to-ceiling sliding mirrored doors, and a fully stocked minibar sat nearby. The bathroom featured black-and-white marble and tile, a black vanity with generous counter space and bright lighting, plus a glass-enclosed shower/tub combination. The main area included a comfortable queen-size bed facing a large TV that carried major U.S. news channels in English. The living area offered a cream leather sofa and coffee table, while I worked comfortably at a large desk equipped with multiple universal outlets.
Services/Amenities: The recently renovated executive lounge is highly recommended. Large windows fill the space with light and provide views of the runway and the South China Sea. I enjoyed breakfast with dim sum and a chef-operated omelet station while watching ships in the distance. The lounge concierge was friendly and efficient, arranging a taxi into the city so it was waiting downstairs and prepared for my onward journey. Executive-floor guests receive complimentary WiFi, one free pressing of clothes per stay and discounts at the OM Spa.
The OM Spa, located on the third floor, offers a broad menu of treatments, from short neck massages to relieve jet lag to full spa packages. Facilities include separate steam rooms and saunas for men and women, beauty services, an outdoor exercise area and a fully equipped 24-hour gym. On my free Sunday morning I had a 60-minute full-body massage using enriched oils from a skilled and friendly therapist — a very welcome recovery after a long flight.
