Qantas has expanded its Brisbane International Airport lounge with a new third floor, increasing the facility’s capacity by around 25 percent.
The additional floor operates each morning from 7:30 to 11:00 a.m. and provides seating for approximately 100 guests. The airline designed this space to better handle peak demand during the busiest international departure period.
The lounge continues to offer a hot and cold buffet on the ground and main levels, while the mezzanine features a “breakfast hatch” serving à la carte items for a more personalised start to the day.
Seasonal menus are created under the direction of Neil Perry, Qantas’ creative director of food, beverage and service, with an emphasis on fresh Queensland produce. Guests can enjoy beverages at bars located on the main and new ground levels, including a selection of craft beers, wines and Vittoria coffee.
Facilities in the lounge also include a business centre, televisions and shower suites stocked with ASPAR by Aurora amenities, providing travellers with both comfort and convenience.
Vanessa Hudson, Qantas’ chief customer officer, said the expansion aims to deliver a more relaxed pre-flight experience: “With the majority of our international flights from Brisbane departing in the morning, the expanded space will give our customers a more relaxed lounge experience. We’ve taken over previously underutilised airport space to create an additional lounge area that accommodates more customers with comfortable seats, great food and — given we go through five kilograms of coffee a day — a stylish barista station featuring the latest coffee-making technology.”
Hudson noted Queensland’s importance to the airline: “Queensland has always been one of our most important markets. We operate almost 60 direct international flights from Brisbane every week, including services to Los Angeles and Hong Kong on the 787 Dreamliner.”
