Princess Cruises has announced that MedallionNet, which the company markets as the best WiFi at sea, will be added to more than half of its fleet.
Over the coming months, the fast, affordable and unlimited internet service will be rolled out on Coral Princess, Island Princess, Crown Princess, Emerald Princess, Golden Princess and Sky Princess.
“Guests and crew absolutely love MedallionNet. We’re expanding it across the fleet as quickly as we can so that in the very near future anyone who sails with us will experience the best WiFi at sea,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises. “While many guests choose to disconnect during their vacation, we recognize that dependable, land-like connectivity is something people value. It gives them the option to stream movies, music and sports, make video calls, or share their vacation moments as much—or as little—as they prefer.”
In addition to enhanced WiFi, Princess Cruises is introducing several technology upgrades across its ships this year. OceanNow, a mobile ordering service, will let guests request drinks and other items from anywhere on board. OceanCompass, the cruise line’s mobile app, offers location tracking and in-app messaging so friends and family can coordinate more easily. Keyless stateroom entry will simplify embarkation and access, and OceanView will provide a complimentary streaming library with more than 100 hours of curated entertainment.
These technology improvements are aimed at improving convenience and choice for passengers—allowing those who want to stay connected to do so with reliable, high-speed internet and mobile services, while still preserving the option to unplug and enjoy the ship and destinations.
