Melding architecture, cuisine, design, art and performance, the 4th Annual Venice Design Series begins April 28 with the Venice Dinner Party featuring chef Josiah Citrin of Mélisse & Charcoal. Hosted by Nancy Griffin and architect Steven Ehrlich at their home, the dinner opens a month of curated experiences that highlight Los Angeles’ creative communities.
The following day the Magical Malibu Tour visits the iconic Malibu Wing House by architect David Hertz, an inventive residence incorporating elements from a decommissioned Boeing 747. On May 5 the Venice Architectural Tour offers participants behind-the-scenes access to a handpicked selection of historic and contemporary homes throughout Venice. Lunch will be prepared by chef Todd Barrie and served at the century-old black Craftsman home of Laura and Jim Maslon, which overlooks the Marina Channel.
On May 12 the Gems of Pacific Palisades & Rustic Canyon tour explores notable sites led by landscape designer and event founder Jay Griffith, followed by a luncheon at a private compound in Rustic Canyon. May 19 features the Downtown Los Angeles Artists’ Studio Tour, guided by collector Cecilia Dan, that opens the doors to a range of working studios and the artists who occupy them.
Also on May 19 the Hancock Park Art Tour & Dinner Party includes a private viewing of the Marciano Art Foundation, a former Masonic Lodge that now houses the Marciano brothers’ extensive collection of Hollywood memorabilia. The evening concludes with a dinner held at a Palm Beach–style mansion hosted by Jay Griffith and architect Kulapat Yantrasast.
Across its schedule, the Venice Design Series blends architecture, culinary experiences and the visual arts to offer immersive, insider perspectives on Los Angeles’ design and cultural landscape.
