Arrival/Check-In: My TAP Portugal flight arrived in Lisbon early in the morning, which raised questions about hotel check-in. Penha Longa Resort is in Sintra and official check-in is in the afternoon, but I hoped to get into my room early to rest before exploring. The receptionist who processed my arrival noticed how tired I looked and kindly suggested I enjoy breakfast while the staff prepared my room. By the time I finished my meal, my room was ready.
Guest Quarters: I felt a little guilty shutting the curtains and blocking the stunning view of the golf course, but a nap was necessary. What I expected to be a one-hour snooze turned into five hours thanks to the comfortable featherbed, plush duvet and high-quality Egyptian cotton sheets. When I woke, I opened the windows and balcony doors to let the fresh breeze in and enjoyed the roomy layout and peaceful atmosphere.
Services/Amenities: The resort has evolved into a well-regarded wellness destination. With a calm, zen-focused approach, I tried the diamond lifting multisensorial facial during my spa visit — a memorable treatment I would recommend to anyone staying here. There are many other body treatments and spa rituals available; I only wish I had more time to explore them all.
The Experience: Overall, Penha Longa is an excellent choice for a wide range of travelers. Whether you are in Lisbon for business or leisure, the property delivers a high-quality experience. The team organizes weekly activities for guests, such as labyrinth meditation in the spa, golf clinic sessions at the golf club, and wine tastings at one of the resort’s restaurants, among other options.
