Old City Living: Finding Your Perfect New Address

Brown Hotels Group has added a striking new property to its luxury collection in Israel. The Villa Brown Jerusalem is a 24-room boutique retreat located just a five-minute walk from the Old City and within easy reach of the lively Mahane Yehuda market. Housed in a 19th-century building that blends Neoclassical, Ottoman and eclectic design, the former private villa now features an underground bar, a restaurant, outdoor terraces and beautifully appointed rooms and suites. Jerusalem-based architects Galit Shifman Bar-Natan and Michal Cohen Magen reimagined the space, preserving exposed stone from the original walls while introducing contemporary interiors highlighted by lush jewel tones.

The hotel’s location places guests close to art galleries, museums, stylish cafés, standout restaurants and vibrant bars. Each morning the open-air veranda serves breakfast and brunch, while daily high tea is available at 5 p.m. in the leafy garden. In addition to meeting facilities and the brand’s signature lobby library, the property offers a rooftop terrace and lounge where spa treatments and an open-air Jacuzzi are available.

Dining at The Villa Brown Jerusalem emphasizes regional flavors with an international twist. Garden Bistro-Café presents classic dishes crafted from local ingredients, while the subterranean Cave Bar—set in a space that once functioned as a cistern—offers a cozy, atmospheric spot for evening drinks. The bar’s beverage program includes a rotating selection of seasonal cocktails, Israeli and international wines and a variety of beers to suit many tastes.

With its central location, thoughtfully preserved architecture and contemporary comforts, The Villa Brown Jerusalem provides a refined yet relaxed base for exploring the city’s historic sites and modern cultural scene. Whether visiting for sightseeing, dining or simply to unwind on a sunny terrace, guests can expect attentive service, tasteful design and a blend of local character and cosmopolitan amenities.
