Norwegian Expands Dreamliner Fleet with New Boeing Deliveries

Norwegian Air Shuttle is expanding its long-haul fleet with three additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Two of the ordered 787-9 aircraft are due for delivery and entry into service in 2016, while the third aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2017. The 787-9, which begins commercial operation this year, is approximately 20 feet longer than the earlier 787-8 variant, carries about 20% more passengers, and uses roughly 8% less fuel per seat compared with the 787-8.

The carrier currently operates five 787-8 Dreamliners and has outstanding orders for three more 787-8s and six 787-9s. This fleet growth supports Norwegian’s expanding long-haul network and helps improve capacity and fuel efficiency on its transcontinental routes.

Norwegian serves 126 destinations around the world and is set to launch seasonal service from London Gatwick (LGW) to major U.S. cities this summer, including New York (JFK), Los Angeles (LAX), and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). These new routes reflect the airline’s continued focus on offering competitive options for transatlantic travel.
