Golden Rock Resort is an upscale, contemporary lifestyle property that opened in 2021 on the remote Dutch Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius. Compared with many other Caribbean destinations, Sint Eustatius—often called Statia—is not a mass-tourism hotspot, attracting visitors who seek hiking trails, world-class dive sites and small, intimate museums.

The island’s compact capital, Oranjestad, is home to roughly 1,000 residents—distinct from Aruba’s larger Oranjestad. With no casinos and no nonstop flights, the island’s appeal rests on natural beauty, quiet beaches and authentic local culture rather than busy tourist infrastructure.
The stylish, thoughtfully designed 32-room Golden Rock Resort has helped raise interest in this largely unspoiled island. Its signature restaurant, Breeze, and expansive, unobstructed ocean views that reach to neighboring St. Kitts and the St. Martin/Sint Maarten area make the property an inviting base for travelers seeking serenity and refined comfort.

Positioned at the base of The Quill, a verdant dormant volcano, the resort and Breeze restaurant take full advantage of cooling sea breezes and panoramic vistas. Breeze sits on a terrace designed to showcase those views and currently represents the first phase of the resort’s development. Expansion plans call for an additional 28 villas and 17 lodges to be added by late summer, increasing accommodation variety and capacity.
Breeze accommodates 164 guests and is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night drinks. Executive chef Matthias Fischer emphasizes bold flavors and Caribbean influences, presenting dishes that balance regional ingredients with contemporary technique. Highlights from the menu include Caribbean-spiced filet mignon with sunchoke purée and seasoned vegetables in a tamarind demi-glace; curry chicken Napoleon with a peanut butter sauce; a Caribbean bouillabaisse featuring mussels, clams, tuna, prawns and lobster in a tomato-lobster broth; and tiger shrimp brochette with sun-dried tomato and vegetable julienne served over fettuccine in a red bell pepper coconut sauce.

A resort vegetable garden provides fresh produce that enhances both the dining menu and the cocktail program. The bar serves creative beverages inspired by the island, with offerings such as the Statia Flower, Golden Rock Mojito and JB’s Jewel, reflecting the property’s relaxed yet sophisticated island character.
Golden Rock Resort positions itself as a thoughtful destination for travelers who want modern comforts, locally inspired cuisine and easy access to Statia’s natural attractions—making it a compelling reason to discover an island that remains refreshingly off the typical Caribbean radar.
