Moxy Hotel Debuts in Chicago: What to Expect at the New Downtown Property

Marriott’s Moxy Chicago opened earlier this month in the River North neighborhood. The 156-room property offers a modern, design-forward stay with amenities tailored to today’s travelers.

“Moxy flips the conventional hotel experience on its head, and we’re excited to bring this vibrant concept to Chicago for the first time with the opening of Moxy Chicago Downtown,” said Vicki Poulos, senior global brand director for Moxy Hotels. The brand aims to create playful, social spaces where both guests and locals can take part in city-focused programming, from trivia nights to live music and curated events.

Guestrooms emphasize technology and clean, contemporary design. Smart TVs and other in-room tech features are prioritized, while interiors showcase leather headboards, graphic pillows and a streamlined aesthetic that balances comfort with style.

Bar Moxy serves as both the lobby bar and the check-in desk, offering arriving guests a complimentary signature cocktail. The space functions throughout the day—pouring local premium coffee in the morning, hosting happy hours in the evening, and presenting a rotating music program that reflects the neighborhood’s energy.

For dining, the hotel features Zombie Taco, a 24/7 food-truck-style concept that brings international flavors and healthier options to guests around the clock. The casual eatery supports the hotel’s social atmosphere and provides flexible dining for visitors at any hour.

Moxy Chicago Downtown marks the brand’s 29th property globally and its seventh location in the United States, expanding Moxy’s presence in urban markets with a focus on lively public spaces, approachable food and beverage, and tech-forward guestrooms.
