How Will Finnair’s New Brand Launch Change The Vision Of The Airline?
One of my first priorities at Finnair was to help shape the airline’s “Vision 2020.” Two clear objectives emerged: make Finnair the leading airline in our home market in terms of size, quality and financial stability; and position it as the preferred carrier for travelers between Europe and Asia, with opportunities to serve connections to North America as well. Through a long-term focus on operational efficiency, reliability, innovation and distinctly personal service, I am confident we can achieve these goals.
We also recognized the need to refresh our visual and service identity to reflect the qualities that distinguish Finnair internationally: quality, freshness and creativity. Our renewed brand communicates a simple promise to customers — Finnair is “designed for you” — and underscores the passenger-focused approach that guides our decisions.
What Advantages Are There For Business Travelers Flying Finnair?
Helsinki’s strategic location provides the shortest and fastest connections between major Asian and European cities, making Finnair an efficient option in both time and cost, and a more environmentally sensible choice due to reduced fuel burn on shorter routings. For travelers from New York (daily service) and Toronto (five weekly flights in summer), routing through Helsinki offers access to more than 50 European destinations while avoiding many of the busiest and most congested hubs.
Business travelers appreciate our modern fleet and the comfort it delivers on long-haul sectors. On routes to New York and across Asia, our business class features fully flat lie-flat seats that significantly improve rest and productivity. In-flight offerings include refined European meal service and carefully selected wines, complemented by the Finnair Lounge & Spa at Helsinki Airport, which provides a calm, efficient pre-flight experience. Our membership in the oneworld alliance further enhances connectivity and benefits for frequent flyers and corporate travelers alike.
What Are Your Expectations For Finnair’s Growth In The Asian Markets?
Aligned with our vision and rising passenger demand, we are expanding our presence in Asia and adding new destinations. We recently upgraded our Delhi service to daily flights and in the last year launched direct routes to Osaka, Seoul and Nagoya. A direct route to Singapore is scheduled to begin in May, and we will increase capacity to Hong Kong in June. By the summer season, Finnair will operate a record 74 weekly flights to 10 Asian cities via Helsinki.
Growth in Asia also strengthens our North American offering. Later this year we will deepen our codeshare cooperation with American Airlines, which will introduce a non-stop flight from Chicago to Helsinki and beyond. That service will open access to an additional 43 destinations across North America for customers connecting through our Helsinki hub. American Airlines already partners with Finnair on routes that include Boston, Washington, D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Miami, and provides further interline and alliance connections to European hubs such as London, Paris and Frankfurt.
