Meliá Hotels International has revealed plans to introduce its ME by Meliá brand to the United States with the upcoming ME Miami. The waterfront property is set to open in spring 2015 and will occupy the current site of Casa Moderna Hotel at 1100 Biscayne Boulevard. The location sits adjacent to the new Miami World Center development, which will include an expansive shopping mall and additional urban amenities.
“We are incredibly excited about the launch of ME Miami and are thrilled to begin this project in one of the most iconic cities in the United States with its strategic location and all the offerings the city of Miami has to offer,” said Gabriel Escarrer, CEO and vice chairman of Meliá Hotels International.
ME Miami will feature 129 guest rooms, two rooftop pools with bay views, and more than 5,000 square feet dedicated to food and beverage outlets. The hotel’s facilities will also include flexible dining and event spaces as well as a spa. Among the offerings will be the debut of STK Rebel, a more casual concept spun off from the traditional STK steakhouse format.
The ME brand expanded in 2014 with openings in Mallorca and Ibiza. Additional properties planned include ME Milan Il Duca and ME Caracas for 2015, with Zaha Hadid’s ME Dubai scheduled for 2016.
