Marriott Announces Two New Hotels Coming to New York City

Marriott’s millennial-focused brand, Moxy Hotels, is expanding its presence in New York City with two new properties set to open by the end of the year. Moxy Times Square, the brand’s first New York location, debuted in September 2017.

“These two new hotels will both have a distinct style and personality, reflective of the culturally rich neighborhoods they are located in, giving locals and visitors alike more ways to play with us,” said Toni Stoeckl, global brand leader and vice president, distinctive select service brands, Marriott International.

The first of the new openings, Moxy Downtown, is a new-build property that will debut this summer with 298 guestrooms just off Broadway. The lobby centers on a large LED wall that functions as a virtual window into the hotel’s third-floor social space, designed as a neighborhood hangout with work areas, games and entertainment. Food and beverage offerings focus on craft cocktails, elevated bar fare and specialty coffee. Guestrooms include floor-to-ceiling windows and modern tech amenities that cater to today’s travelers.

Moxy Chelsea will follow, featuring 349 guestrooms and interior design that blends the Flower District’s botanical character with touches of Italian romance. Shared spaces are intended to be vibrant and varied, with a flower shop, trattoria, pasticceria, café, bar, meeting studios, a co-working lounge and a conservatory. A rooftop bar with retractable windows will provide skyline views, including vistas of the Empire State Building.

Both hotels offer mobile check-in and check-out, around-the-clock food and beverage options and complimentary WiFi, ensuring convenience for guests who value flexibility and connectivity.

“Moxy is designed to facilitate authentic experiences and touchpoints for the modern traveler, which means no two hotels are alike — they take on the personality and vibe of their surrounding neighborhoods,” Stoeckl added. “New York City encapsulates everything Moxy is about, and we’re really excited now to be able to offer a Moxy in the city for whatever type of experience Moxy’s fun-hunting travelers are looking for.”
