Lufthansa Expands In-Flight Reading Selection for Travelers

Lufthansa is expanding its selection of German-language and international newspapers and magazines for passengers by digitizing its in-flight reading material. Responding to the growing number of travelers who use mobile devices, the airline is introducing a convenient eJournal service that complements its printed offerings.

Starting today, Lufthansa passengers can access lh.com/eJournals within three days prior to departure. Using their name and reservation code, travelers may download two eJournals of their choice to a smartphone or tablet for use during and after the flight.

From March, the number of complimentary eJournal downloads will vary according to travel class and frequent-flyer status, with the option to purchase additional digital magazines and newspapers for a fee. Downloaded eJournals are provided in PDF format so they remain accessible even after the journey has ended.

Despite the new digital service, Lufthansa will maintain printed newspapers and magazines in airport lounges, in first and business class cabins, and at selected airports for passengers who prefer physical editions.

The move to digital reading material also brings environmental advantages. Reducing the number of printed publications carried on board lowers aircraft weight, which in turn contributes to fuel savings and a smaller ecological footprint.

Lufthansa is among the world’s largest airlines, operating hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, serving 21 North American gateways and flying to 198 destinations across 77 countries.
