Lufthansa Announces New International Routes for 2026

Lufthansa has announced new winter-season routes, expanding its network in Northern Europe. Beginning on November 26, passengers will be able to fly to Tromsø (TOS), and starting December 17, service will begin to Ivalo (IVL).

Both routes will operate on Saturdays only and will complement Lufthansa’s existing Munich (MUC) flights to Kittilä (KTT). Together these connections provide access to three of the most sought-after destinations in Europe’s High North, popular for winter tourism and outdoor activities.

Tromsø sits more than 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle and is known for distinctive attractions such as the world’s northernmost botanical garden and excellent opportunities to view the Northern Lights. The destination is also a hub for winter outdoor experiences, including dogsledding and guided nature excursions. Lufthansa will operate the Tromsø service with an Airbus A319 configured with 138 seats across two classes through March 25, 2017. Saturday flights are scheduled to arrive at 1:15 p.m. local time and depart for the return flight to Frankfurt (FRA) at 5:35 p.m.

Ivalo, home to the northernmost airport within the European Union, is a well-known Lapland destination favored by skiers and other winter-sport enthusiasts. This route will also be served by an Airbus A319 with 138 seats in two classes through March 25. The scheduled arrival time in Ivalo is 2:10 p.m., with the departure back to Frankfurt at 3:05 p.m., arriving in Germany at 5:35 p.m.

Fares for the new routes start at $237, offering travelers an affordable option to reach these Arctic destinations during the winter season.
