La Fantaisie: Paris’s New Ethereal Boutique Hotel Experience

Renowned Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki makes his Paris debut with the opening of La Fantaisie in late spring 2023. The fantastical hotel sits in the Faubourg-Montmartre neighborhood in the city’s ninth arrondissement, bringing a whimsical, nature-inspired retreat to central Paris.

Brudnizki has created the interiors for all 63 rooms and 10 suites, each conceived as a calm refuge from the pace of Parisian life. The designs draw heavily on natural forms and colors: soft greens, warm yellows and coral accents recur throughout to foster a soothing atmosphere. Luxurious upholstered headboards, ornate wall treatments and floral wallpaper on ceilings contribute to a sense of richness and imagination, while canopied outdoor furniture and parasols extend the dreamlike mood outside.

Beyond its interiors, La Fantaisie positions itself as a culinary destination with the opening of Golden Poppy, led by chef Dominique Crenn. The restaurant emphasizes local, sustainable ingredients and inventive preparations, such as turbot ceviche paired with spiced parsnip milk and leche de tigre. Crenn’s commitment to sustainability extends to the kitchen’s operations, embracing zero-plastic and zero-waste principles across the hotel’s food and beverage outlets.

The hotel also offers a tranquil spa developed in partnership with Holidermie. This collaboration creates a serene sanctuary where design, texture and color reference the natural world to enhance relaxation. Holidermie brings a naturally vegan approach to treatments and skincare, favoring effective, simple rituals that support guests’ physical comfort and mental wellbeing during their stay.
