KLM Unveils Redesigned Business Class Cabin with Premium Features

There’s no place like home — that idea is at the heart of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ redesigned business-class cabin. Designed by Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, the new interior aims to create a comfortable, domestic atmosphere for travelers.

Called World Business Class, the cabin includes seats that convert to fully flat beds and feature a partition between entertainment screens to improve privacy. The décor uses a warm color palette with decorative dot patterns that complement KLM’s signature blue without overwhelming it. The redesign also incorporates sustainable choices, such as carpeting produced from recycled KLM uniforms.

The first aircraft outfitted with the new cabin will begin flying in July.

Refurbishment starts with KLM’s Boeing 747-400 fleet of 22 aircraft. The carrier plans to refresh its entire 747 fleet by April 2014, and work on KLM’s 15 Boeing 777-200s is scheduled for summer 2014.
