Kempinski Expands Luxury Hotel Portfolio Across Africa

Kempinski Hotels has expanded its African portfolio with the signing of Kempinski Hotel Fleuve Congo in one of Africa’s largest cities. Named for the continent’s longest river, this five-star hotel sits close to the Congo River in the heart of the embassy district within the Commune of Gombe. As the tallest building in the Gombe area, the 22-floor property offers sweeping views across the Congo River and toward Kinshasa and Brazzaville.

The hotel features a range of guest amenities designed for both leisure and business travelers. Dining options include three specialty restaurants and four bars. Retail and convenience services on site comprise three boutiques and a florist. For meetings and events, the hotel provides five flexible spaces, highlighted by an auditorium that seats up to 250 guests.

Recreational facilities cater to active guests and families, with two outdoor tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, a well-equipped fitness center and dedicated billiard and snooker rooms. These offerings support both relaxation and recreation while staying at the property.

“By partnering with key players on the continent to secure the best locations for our luxury properties we will continue to be the pioneer of luxury hospitality in Sub-Saharan Africa,” said Reto Wittwer, president and CEO of Kempinski Hotels. The company currently operates 74 hotels in 31 countries and plans further expansion across Africa, strengthening its presence in prime urban and resort destinations.
