Part of the Marriott Bonvoy Autograph Collection, the 317-room Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge has introduced a new luxury offering: the Black Diamond Club. This hotel-within-a-hotel concept, which opened in May, provides an elevated basecamp for year-round mountain adventures in Alberta’s scenic Kananaskis Valley. The Black Diamond Club blends refined comfort with direct access to outdoor pursuits, redefining mountain hospitality with quiet sophistication and thoughtful service.

Located about an hour west of Calgary, the Black Diamond Club occupies three private floors and includes 71 newly renovated rooms and suites. Each guest room is designed to reflect the surrounding wilderness, featuring premium bedding, soft jersey robes, artisanal wellness amenities, and curated in-room beverage selections including Jolene’s Tea House offerings and Nespresso coffee. The rooms combine modern comfort with alpine-inspired touches to create a restful retreat after outdoor activities.
“The Black Diamond Club expansion marks an exciting milestone for the Lodge,” said Liz Hovey-Smith, general manager of Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. “We’re thrilled to welcome guests to this exclusive part of our resort and offer them an escape from the ordinary.”

Central to the Black Diamond Club experience is a guest-first approach tailored to outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation alike. A dedicated Adventure Concierge works with guests to craft personalized itineraries across Kananaskis Country, from horseback rides on alpine trails to fly-fishing excursions on glacier-fed lakes. The club welcomes individual travelers, families and corporate groups, and the property is well suited for group buyouts—with private dining options and exclusive access to resort amenities for both professional retreats and leisure gatherings. The lodge is approximately 70 minutes from Calgary International Airport, making it an accessible mountain destination.
Guests at the lodge can access extensive outdoor amenities: more than 745 miles of hiking and biking trails, a world-class 36-hole golf course, 47 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails, nearby downhill skiing at Nakiska Ski Area, and seasonal activities such as dog sledding through snowy forests. On-site wellness is anchored by a standout 50,000-square-foot Nordic Spa that offers hydrotherapy, massage treatments and serene alpine views—an ideal complement to active days in the mountains.
