ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: After an early-morning train from Urubamba, we arrived in the quiet town of Aguas Calientes. Staff from Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel met us, took our bags and escorted us on a short walk to the property. On arrival we were offered a refreshing cup of green tea made from leaves grown on the hotel grounds while the concierge explained the included amenities, on-site excursions and useful details for our stay.
We were then given our keys and shown to our rooms to settle in before our first activity.

GUEST QUARTERS: My suite was set back among lush greenery in a quieter section of the property, overlooking the sound of the river. The private outdoor patio had a small loveseat—an ideal spot to relax and listen to the forest, birds and running water.
Inside the suite, a comfortable king-sized bed occupied the left side of the room while a large armoire stood to the right. The bathroom featured a separate toilet area and a spacious rainfall shower. Two bottles of natural insect repellent were provided, which proved useful during excursions around the grounds and at Machu Picchu. The room also included a sizable fireplace that staff could light on request, and a cozy sitting area with a loveseat and a small table with two chairs.
