Helsinki’s Hotel Maria is a striking new addition to the Finnish hotel scene, designed for travelers who appreciate refined Nordic hospitality, attentive service and thoughtful design.

Located in the historic Kruununhaka district, Hotel Maria offers 117 generously proportioned rooms, including 38 suites. The accommodations emphasize a sense of space with ceiling heights reaching up to 13 feet, and many guest bathrooms are equipped with saunas, steam rooms or bathtubs to enhance the in-room spa experience. Interiors are appointed with luxurious furnishings, lighting and details sourced from American design house RH, creating an atmosphere that blends Scandinavian restraint with elevated comfort.
The hotel occupies a unique ensemble of four buildings constructed between 1885 and 1930 and designed by prominent Helsinki architect Evert E. Lagerspetz. The structures retain significant historical character, with arched windows and architectural elements that reflect the site’s past. All four buildings are protected by the Finnish Heritage Agency, ensuring the preservation of their cultural and architectural value.

The property features two restaurants and two bars, a dedicated gym, a spa and wellness area, flexible meeting and ballroom spaces, and outdoor terraces. Guests can also enjoy a secluded courtyard with terraces, a chapel for small ceremonies, and an on-site shop. These amenities are designed to serve both leisure travelers and business guests seeking a high-end, locally rooted stay.

Opened in late 2023, Hotel Maria joined Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection, marking the first property in Finland to earn that distinction. The hotel aims to combine international standards of luxury with distinctive local character, offering visitors to Helsinki an elegant base from which to explore the city’s history, culture and design scene.
