Holland America Line’s New Cruise Ship: What to Know in 2026

Holland America Line is preparing to introduce the ms Koningsdam, a contemporary cruise ship that will sail routes through Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Designed for comfort and entertainment, the vessel accommodates up to 2,650 guests and showcases a variety of dining, music and leisure options while emphasizing bright, open interiors and elegant lines inspired by the movement of waves and music.

One of the ship’s standout features is Music Walk: a cluster of three distinct music venues offering diverse live entertainment. Guests can enjoy blues performances at the B.B. King Blues Club, attend concerts in a live classical music hall, or dance the night away in a DJ-centered club. Scattered throughout are bars that highlight signature cocktails crafted by celebrity mixologists, along with casual choices such as a New York–style pizza bar and an expansive Lido buffet serving a wide range of international dishes.

The Culinary Arts Center provides an interactive experience for food enthusiasts, hosting cooking demonstrations and hands-on classes as well as special events with visiting celebrity chefs. For quieter moments, passengers can relax in the Explorations Café, sponsored by The New York Times, where a selection of books, travel guides and daily crossword puzzles are available to enjoy with coffee or tea.

Retail options on board include a luxury jewelry boutique and a variety of duty-free shops, letting guests browse fashion, accessories and travel essentials as they cruise. The ship’s public spaces prioritize natural light and fluid design, with open promenades and clean curves that create an airy, contemporary atmosphere throughout the vessel.

The ms Koningsdam is scheduled to receive her official name during a formal naming ceremony on May 20 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Once in service, the ship will offer a blend of culinary experiences, live music, and relaxed luxury tailored to passengers seeking both activity and relaxation on voyages across several of the world’s most popular cruising regions.
