Hilton’s upper-upscale Curio Collection continued to expand this summer, adding several distinctive properties to its portfolio. Known for hotels with individual character and local flavor, Curio strengthened its international presence with significant openings and a notable signing.
The collection debuted in the United Kingdom with the opening of The Trafalgar St. James in central London. Situated on the south side of Trafalgar Square, the hotel is within easy reach of The National Gallery and Theatreland. The Trafalgar St. James offers 131 guestrooms and 15 suites that blend Art Deco influences with bold color palettes and custom furnishings. Guests can enjoy a rooftop bar, all-day dining, the Biblio lounge, and a 24-hour fitness center.
In Rome, Curio introduced its first property in the Eternal City after an extensive renovation of the Aleph Rome Hotel. Housed in a 1930s building just a short walk from the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and Villa Borghese, the 88-room hotel preserves its authentic Italian character while adding modern comforts and services. Highlights include a rooftop pool, generously proportioned rooms, inventive dining concepts, and a late-night cocktail bar with a Cognac Lounge.
Curio’s expansion also includes a new signing in the Netherlands slated to open in 2020: The Monastery Hotel Koningsbosch. Located in Limburg near the German and Belgian borders, the property occupies a former monastery constructed in 1873. Plans call for a careful renovation that will transform the historic building into a luxury, 100-room hotel blending neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque architectural elements while retaining its heritage and sense of place.
These additions underscore Curio’s focus on unique, locally rooted hotels that combine historic or distinctive settings with contemporary amenities. Each new property exemplifies the brand’s approach: preserving character and story while delivering the service and conveniences modern travelers expect.
