Hertz Global, operator of the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands in the United States, has launched a new partnership with Luke’s Wings. The non-profit organization supports service members who have been wounded in combat and provides transportation and logistics assistance to their families. As part of the collaboration, Hertz will make up to $5,000 in vehicle rentals available during November and December to help ensure families can travel when they are needed most.
Since 2008, Luke’s Wings has helped families reach military hospitals, rehabilitation centers and hospice facilities so they can be with loved ones recovering from service-related injuries. The organization coordinates travel for injured service members who return home for holidays, birthdays and other important occasions, and arranges transport for family members to spend time with veterans nearing the end of life. In urgent situations, Luke’s Wings also arranges emergency flights for families of special operators injured on missions, ensuring relatives can be by their side quickly.
By combining Hertz’s fleet resources with Luke’s Wings’ logistics expertise, the partnership aims to reduce the stress and expense of last-minute travel for military families. Access to rental vehicles can be especially critical in locations where alternative transportation is limited, providing dependable and flexible options for caregivers and relatives during hospital visits, transfers and transitional care periods.
“We are thrilled to partner with such a notable company in the rental car industry,” said Jennifer Magerer, executive director of family communications and logistics for Luke’s Wings. “Together, we are truly making an impact on the lives of our service members and their families.”
The support from Hertz builds on Luke’s Wings’ core mission of offering immediate, practical assistance to wounded warriors and their families. Reliable transportation removes a significant barrier for many households, allowing families to focus on recovery and caregiving rather than logistical hurdles. The partnership underscores how corporate contributions of in-kind services can directly improve quality of life for service members during recovery.
Luke’s Wings continues to coordinate travel and logistical support nationwide, matching families with the resources they need to be present during critical medical and personal moments. With the added rental assistance from Hertz, more families should be able to remain close to their recovering loved ones when it matters most.
