Luxury resort complex Grande Lakes Orlando has introduced falconry as the latest feature of its Grande Lakes Sports hub.
Guests staying at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando and JW Marriott Orlando can now experience hands-on falconry programs on the resort’s extensive grounds. The new offerings provide a safe, guided way to learn about and interact with trained raptors, bringing an ancient tradition to life for visitors of all ages.
The falconry program is launching with two distinct experiences:
Falconry School — This introductory course covers the fundamentals of the sport, including rules and regulations, training methods, an overview of traditional and modern equipment, species identification, and historical context. The session concludes with an opportunity for participants to handle the birds and take photos under expert supervision.
Walk with a Hawk — A shorter, interactive experience that includes a basic introduction to falconry followed by direct engagement with the birds. During this activity, trained hawks will fly to guests on cue and follow alongside while guided through the property.
“We’re thrilled to take our Grande Lakes Sports hub to the next echelon of guest experiences through the addition of Falconry,” said Jon McGavin, general manager of Grande Lakes Orlando. “Falconry has a storied history, and our vast landscape lends itself perfectly to its storytelling through engaging and immersive offerings.”
Falconry joins four existing Grande Lakes Sports activities: eco-tours, sunrise safaris, fishing, and mountain biking. Together, these programs expand the resort’s outdoor and educational options, offering guests varied ways to explore the natural environment and wildlife on the property.
The falconry experiences are led by trained professionals who prioritize animal welfare and guest safety. Programs are designed to be informative and engaging, suitable for newcomers and families seeking a unique outdoor activity. Sessions may be subject to availability, seasonal scheduling, and resort policies, so guests are encouraged to check with the Grande Lakes concierge for reservations and details.
With the addition of falconry, Grande Lakes Orlando continues to broaden its portfolio of curated experiences that blend recreation, education, and conservation—providing memorable moments for visitors while highlighting the resort’s commitment to nature-focused programming.
