Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center has opened as the largest combined resort and convention center in Colorado. As the fifth Gaylord Hotels property and one of the largest resorts to debut under Marriott this year, it expands Marriott’s presence in the western U.S. meetings and leisure market.
Located just 10 minutes from Denver International Airport, the resort sits on 85 acres with views of the Denver skyline and the Rocky Mountains. The property includes more than 1,500 guestrooms, 114 suites, 14 presidential suites, and nearly 500,000 square feet of flexible convention space. Indoor and outdoor water features enhance the guest experience across the grounds.
Mike Stengel, senior vice president of Gaylord Hotels at Marriott International, noted that this western group destination strengthens the company’s ability to attract large conferences and will introduce new event planners to Colorado as a meeting destination.
The resort’s design draws heavily on Colorado’s landscapes and heritage. Architectural details and finishes reference regional character: elevator interiors evoke historic mine shafts, water elements cascade over rock formations, and original artwork celebrates familiar local scenes. Guestrooms continue the regional theme with accents such as lumberjack plaid pillows, hiking maps placed in closets, and carpeting that reflects tree patterns.
Inside the convention center, decorative motifs shift to alpine and winter-sport inspirations. Public spaces and meeting rooms incorporate design cues that suggest ski slopes—patterns reminiscent of ski tracks and snowflakes appear throughout, providing a cohesive transition from aspen woodland motifs in guest areas to a more seasonal, mountain-oriented aesthetic for events.
With its combination of extensive meeting facilities, varied accommodations, and mountain-inspired design, Gaylord Rockies is positioned to serve both large-scale conventions and leisure travelers seeking a distinctive Colorado experience close to Denver’s major transportation hub.
