Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru has commissioned its first RoofSolar inverter, marking one of the largest resort-based solar installations in the destination.
The system comprises more than 3,000 solar panels and covers 58,000 square feet atop the staff village, converting abundant sun into clean electricity for resort operations.
Annually, the energy generated is equivalent to powering all 103 guestrooms, villas and suites for 32 days, or charging an eco-friendly electric golf cart over 82,000 times. On a daily basis, the output equals the electricity needed to run 15 villas for 24 hours or to wash and dry about 7,400 pounds of laundry.
“Our Baa Atoll home became the Maldives’ first UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in 2011 because of its unique balance between people and nature, and we take our responsibility for preserving that status seriously,” said Armando Kraenzlin, regional vice president, Four Seasons Resorts, Maldives. “This project is an important step on our conservation journey and brings us closer to our longer-term goal of achieving carbon neutrality.”
