Operated through customizable itineraries, the experience can include dogsledding, guided Northern Lights excursions, and time to explore Tromsø’s cultural sites and museums.

The VOLDA floating lodge began life as a ferry in the 1960s and has been fully refurbished into a high-end retreat that highlights classic Scandinavian design. The lodge offers spacious accommodation across seven bedrooms, sleeping up to 14 guests. The open-plan living and kitchen area features an oversized dining table and multiple lounge spaces, including a private lounge in the former officer’s cabin, providing comfortable communal areas for dining and relaxation.

Tromsø itself offers several attractions to complement a lodge stay. Polaria, an Arctic aquarium, includes a panoramic cinema and interactive exhibits that feature seals and other regional wildlife. The building’s distinctive architecture evokes the image of glaciers piled upon one another and is a notable sight in the city. Another architectural highlight is the Arctic Cathedral, recognized for its striking triangular form and modern Nordic lines.

Sample pricing for a three-night, four-day floating lodge package for a family of four starts at approximately $2,429 per person. The rate typically includes all meals, a dedicated onboard hostess, and selected activities; flights are not included. The floating lodge experience is generally available through March, with exact dates and options varying by season and operator.
