MONTRÉAL
Experience the joie de vivre of Montréal, a vibrant metropolis and the second most populous city in Canada with more than 3.8 million residents in its metropolitan area. Whether you come for the food, art, shopping or festivals, Montréal offers a lively mix of French and North American culture, world-class museums and galleries, fine dining, high-end boutiques and year-round events that showcase the city’s energy and creativity.
GETTING THERE
Downtown Montréal is about 20 minutes from Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL). The 747 Express Bus connects the airport with key downtown stops, hotels and tourist areas. It runs 24 hours a day—every 20 minutes during rush hour, hourly between 2–5 a.m., and about every 30 minutes at other times. The fare is $9, payable in exact change on board, and includes unlimited access to Montréal’s bus and metro network for 24 hours. Taxis to downtown operate at a flat rate of $38.
GETTING AROUND
Montréal’s public transit network is managed by the Société de Transport de Montréal (STM) and is both efficient and extensive. A single fare for buses and the métro costs $3 and allows unlimited transfers for 90 minutes. If you plan to explore more, consider a one-day pass for $9 or a three-day pass for $18 to travel freely on buses and the métro without worrying about exact change.
