New York City FC, the new Major League Soccer franchise, has announced a partnership with Etihad Airways. As the club’s principal partner, Etihad will appear as the main sponsor on the team’s jerseys and will be recognized as one of the club’s founding partners.
The five-year agreement represents New York City FC’s most significant commercial partnership to date. Under the deal, Etihad Airways’ branding will feature prominently on the team’s playing kits, at matchdays held at Yankee Stadium, and across the club’s digital channels.
“Etihad Airways has a strong affinity with New York as it was the airline’s first U.S. destination to be launched in 2006,” said James Hogan, president and CEO of Etihad Airways. “We are delighted to further strengthen our ties with the city through this partnership with New York City Football Club.”
Etihad currently operates non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and several U.S. cities, including Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), and Washington, D.C. (IAD). The carrier scheduled a launch of service to San Francisco (SFO) on Nov. 18 and to Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) on Dec. 3.
