Hotel Esencia, set on a private 50-acre estate in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, introduces a new level of Caribbean luxury with the opening of Esencia Mansion. Once the secluded retreat of an Italian duchess, the mansion has been reimagined as a second Main House for Hotel Esencia, extending the design team’s vision for refined, art-driven hospitality.

Esencia Mansion features exceptionally spacious suites with en-suite bathrooms, double sinks and walk-in wardrobes, designed to make guests feel pampered and at ease. The master suite offers a relaxed, chic atmosphere: a light-filled bedroom flows into a grand master bathroom with a dedicated shower room, a contemporary bathtub, double basins and an indoor/outdoor pool that blurs the line between interior comfort and outdoor living.
An adjoining office opens onto a private terrace furnished for lounging, complete with a hammock and direct views of the main pool below. The mansion includes three additional en-suite jungle-facing suites, each with peaceful outdoor terraces, plus a studio lounge ideal for reading and quiet moments. Throughout the house, the interiors showcase works from designer Kevin Wendle’s personal collection alongside bespoke pieces created exclusively for the property by artist Marcel Dzama.

Dzama’s custom ceramic tiles, hand-drawn with images of animals native to the Esencia estate, appear throughout the property — in the main pool, in select bathrooms and at the speakeasy bar — adding a playful, artisanal touch. The mansion’s eat-in kitchen is fitted with modern appliances so guests or a private chef can prepare meals and tailor menus for group dining. A connected family kitchen and breakfast terrace provide ideal spaces for pre-dinner gatherings and relaxed mornings surrounded by lush vegetation.
At the heart of the residence is a main living room with oversized windows that flood the space with natural light. A wet bar accommodates aperitivos and casual entertaining, while intimate seating areas create comfortable spots for conversation. Above, a dramatic rooftop terrace provides panoramic 360-degree views of both the Caribbean Sea and the surrounding jungle, along with a generous plunge pool, covered terrace and sun loungers for soaking up the vistas.

Wellness and entertainment amenities include an indoor fitness studio equipped with high-tech gear such as The Mirror virtual trainer, an elite Woodway treadmill and Pent Fitness weight sets. A hidden screening room seats up to 20 guests for private film viewings, and an underground speakeasy — with its own secret jungle entrance, stocked bar and optional DJ booth — offers a uniquely immersive nightlife experience within the estate.
Hotel Esencia also provides private helicopter transfers and airport service, landing directly on the property’s helipad for seamless arrivals and departures. Guests can arrange curated tours of the region, from fly-over experiences to fully guided day trips to archaeological sites such as Chichén Itzá, the Tulum ruins, Coba and destinations like Isla Mujeres, all organized by the hotel for a personalized exploration of the Yucatán Peninsula.
